Money & How It Works · Lesson 1

What Is Money?

Money is stored energy: a tool humans created to trade value across time and distance.

Ages5–89–12Runtime to be confirmed

About this lesson

Kids see cards tap and boxes show up on the porch, so it looks like money just appears. This lesson fills in the other half: every dollar is a thank you someone earned by helping another person. Get that in early and everything that comes later has ground to stand on.

What you’ll learn

  • Money is how we send a thank you for work that helped someone.
  • A price tag is a web of real people, not a number somebody picked.
  • The earning half of money stays invisible until you talk about the problems you solve.
  • Thank-yous can be stored and still count later, even in another city.
