Money & How It Works · Lesson 4
How Prices Work
Prices are signals, and teaching children why things cost what they cost connects money to real value.
Ages5–89–1213–17Runtime to be confirmed
About this lesson
Kids assume every price was picked by someone who could have chosen a nicer number. A price is a message about how much people want something and how hard it is to get more of it. Once they can read that message, every store becomes a page they know how to read.
What you’ll learn
- Every price is a message about wanting and scarcity.
- The right price moves with the situation. Nobody is fully in charge of it.
- Greed cannot explain a falling price. Watch supply, competition, and better tools.
- A high price is also an announcement: people want this, and there isn't enough of it.
