Earning vs. Receiving
Money earned through contribution means something different than money handed over, and children who learn that distinction early carry it for life.

About this lesson
Most of a child's money arrives as a gift: birthdays, the tooth fairy, an envelope from an uncle. Gift money says somebody loves you. Earned money says somebody needed you. This week they meet the second kind, with a real job and a real chance that the payer could have said no.
What you’ll learn
- Gift money and earned money look identical and mean different things.
- Family work is for love. Job work is for pay. Both matter.
- Earned money is the only kind a kid can go get more of.
- A yes only counts when the person paying could have said no.
