Family Culture & Systems · Lesson 5

Navigating Institutions

Schools, advisors, and systems are tools, and families who use them without becoming dependent on them stay in the driver’s seat.

About this lesson

School, coaches, advisors, and apps each manage a slice. None of them shares your goals. School is a resource the family uses, never the authority on who your kid is. Hire experts. Keep enough understanding to catch nonsense.

What you’ll learn

  • Institutions are excellent tools and terrible masters.
  • Read grades as information, not verdicts.
  • Ask what this system wants from me, and what I want from it.
  • Keep asking until you can say it back.
