Building Your Family’s Advisory Ecosystem

Identifying, recruiting, and maintaining the right advisors—legal, financial, relational—means your family isn’t navigating complexity alone.

About this lesson

Most families interview landscapers more carefully than the people advising their life's work. Treat the bench as a faculty and enroll the teenagers: one real meeting a year, briefed and debriefed. Hire their hands. Keep your head.

What you’ll learn

  • Choose the bench. Do not inherit it.
  • Bring teens to one advisor meeting a year.
  • Ask how they get paid, on what, and by whom.
  • After a year: are you smarter, or just more managed?
